A little more room for the ordinary

A little more room for the ordinary
rsquo;s ordinary, recorded.I used to save my camera for things that looked like occasions. A trip. A birthday. A landscape that had already earned its place on a postcard. The days in between passed mostly unrecorded.
Lately I have been trying something smaller: one photograph on my morning walk past the community gardens. The same route, most days. A greenhouse door propped open. The way a shadow moves across a potting bench. A chair somebody dragged outside to catch the last of the sun.
Nothing remarkable happened this morning. Someone had watered the seedlings, the gravel was still dark, and a tiny green leaf had landed in the middle of the path. I stopped anyway.
Maybe a personal website is a place for exactly this. A small observation that does not need to become content. A little more room for the ordinary.
